OFFSHORE: A2SEA’s new heavy lift vessel Sea Installer has been introduced to the water at Qidong Shipyard, China. The process began with the vessel being moved from the slipway to the front of the quayside before being transferred to an elevator barge that launched her into the water.

Before dipping Sea Installer, however, its retractable thruster was installed, an operation performed while the vessel lay on the barge.

Once launched, the vessel was towed into the dry dock area where work is now underway to prepare the vessel for commissioning and startup.

During this period, all systems will be tested and approved before the main engine is started. In parallel, the construction team will assemble Sea Installer’s main crane and prepare it for load testing, simultaneously completing the legs of the vessel’s jacking system and putting it to the test.

The next important event for Sea Installer is its naming ceremony, planned to take place on 8 May.
