Triple-E ships call in Aarhus this summer
The world's largest container ship, the first in the series of 20 new giant container ships with a capacity of 18,000 TEU, built in South Korea for Maersk Line, is expected to dock at the container port in Aarhus in August.
This is clear after the Gothenburg port and the port of Gdansk both having announced that they expect the arrival of the first giant ship during the month of August. Both ports are on the same route between Asia and Europe as Aarhus.
In Gothenburg, the pilots and operators of tugs have long been in training to handle the new large ships.
"We are ready to bid the new generation of ships welcome", says Magnus Kari Bramstedt, executive director of the Port of Gothenburg. The first Triple-E ships will sail on rotation:
Gdansk - Aarhus - Gothenburg - Bremerhaven - Rotterdam - Port Tangier - Singapore - Yantian - Hong Kong - Kwangyang - Ningbo - Shanghai - Tanjung Pelepas.
