DONG tester nye havmøller på Gunfleet

DONG Energy har modtaget tilladelse til at teste to af næste generations offshore vindmøller på Gunfleet Sands 3 havmøllepark i det sydøstlige England. Det er første gang, at Siemens 6 MW vindmølle vil blive testet offshore.

"Vi er glade for at være de første til at teste Siemens møllen på havet. DONG Energy er fokuseret på at gøre offshore vindkraft mere konkurrencedygtig, og vi er sikre på, at de større møller vil hjælpe os med at nå dette mål", siger Morten Buchgreitz, viceadministrerende direktør i DONG Energy Wind Power.

De to Siemens 6 MW møller vil blive opført på DONG Energy’s demonstrationsprojekt Gunfleet Sands 3. Projektet udgør en vigtig del af DONG Energy’s vej til yderligere at industrialisere offshore vindindustrien og nedbringe prisen på energi fra møller på havet.

"Gunfleet Sands demonstrationsprojektet er kommet i stand gennem et meget konstruktivt samarbejde med myndighederne i Storbritannien. Vi er meget glade for at modtage tilladelsen, der giver os mulighed for at vise vores engagement i udbygningen af vindindustrien i Storbritannien", siger Morten Buchgreitz.

Konstruktionen af de to nye møller starter til maj og vil være installeret i november i år, og de vil blive nettilsluttet gennem et separat kabel. DONG Energy vil gennem tests verificere vindmøllernes ydelse, pålidelighed og funktionalitet. Gunfleet Sands 3 demonstrations projektet ligger ca. 8,5 kilometer sydøst for byen Clacton on Sea.

En prototype af 6 MW møllen bliver også testet på en onshore testcentret i Høvsøre.
