Kina satser stort på tidevands-kraft

Der er gennem tiden gjort mange forsøg på at lokke bæredygtig energi ud af tidevandsstrøm, men indtil nu ikke med den store kommercielle succes. Nu gør Simec Atlantis Energy, China Shipbuilding Industry Company og China Three Gorges Corp. et nyt forsøg.

Kernen i projektet er en 500 kilowatt turbine, drevet af en propeller med en diamater på hele 18 meter. Turbinen er netop blevet anbragt på havbunden mellem to øer syd for Shanghai.

Lykkes forsøget, er det planen at starte en produktion i stor skala op, hvilket vil bidrage til at reducere omkostningerne markant.

En af årsagerne til at tidevands-kraft har klaret sig dårligt i konkurrence med andre bæredygtige energiformer som vindkraft og solenergi, er netop de høje fremstillingsomkostninger.
