Maersk Training indgår nyt samarbejde

Maersk Training, med hovedsæde i Svendborg og træningsfaciliteter over det meste af verden, har indgået et samarbejde med Bristol Community College i amerikanske Massachusetts, om at udvikle nye kurser for studerende, der søger beskæftigelse i offshore vindindustrien.

”Vi er virkelig begejstrede for dette partnerskab med Bristol Community College og udviklingen af vindenergi i Massachusetts på USAs østkyst. At have en lokal arbejdsstyrke, der har et stærke kompetencer er vigtig for industrien og for disse projekter”, siger Johan Uggla, administrerende direktør, Maersk Training.

Bristol Community College tilbyder i øjeblikket grundlæggende sikkerhedsuddannelsesmoduler under navnet National Offshore Wind Institute. Modulerne inkluderer bl.a. førstehjælp, brandsikkerhed, arbejde i højder og overlevelse af havet, mens de grundlæggende tekniske træningskurser fokuserer på hydraulik, samt mekaniske og elektriske koncepter vedrørende offshore vind.

Gennem det nye partnerskab med Maersk Training bliver Bristol Community College i stand til at udvikle og levere uddannelseskurser, der understøtter offshore vindkrafttekniker uddannelsen.

Det amerikanske energiministerium estimerer, at 43.000 nye arbejdspladser vil blive skabt på offshore-vindmarkedet inden 2030, mens Massachusetts Clean Energy Center vurderer at havvindmølleparker i det næste årti vil skabe næsten 3.000 nye arbejdspladser i regionen.
