Yderligere fire 24.000 teu giganter på vej

China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) har modtaget en ordre på bygning af fire containerskibe på 24.100 teu, der dermed vil blive blandt verdens absolut største. Skibene er blevet bestilt af en kinesisk finansieringsvirksomhed, men bygges formentlig for MSC, skriver Maritime Executive.

Det har ikke skortet på milliard-bestillinger på gigantiske containerskibe i de sidste dage af 2020.

Forleden kom det frem, at Japans Ocean Network Express har indgået en 15-årig charteraftale om seks nye containerskibe på “mere end 24.000 teu” og at tyske Hapag-Lloyd har bestilt seks ultra large containerskibe fra Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.

Ordren til CSSC på fire af de helt store containerskibe fra Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co. blev underskrevet den 18. december - og selvom meddelelsen om aftalen ikke indeholder noget om, hvem der skal drive skibene, er det opfattelsen i industrien, at der er tale om MSC Shipping.

Det italiensk ejede rederi med base i Schweiz, der netop har fået den tidligere Maersk-direktør Søren Toft som CEO, vil i givet fald tage endnu et skridt mod at overhale Maersk som verdens største containerrederi.

Ifølge Alphaliners Top-100 oversigt over verdens største containerrederier målt på kapacitet er Maersk i dag - incl. de kendte ordrebøgers størrelse -

blot 138.000 teu foran MSC.

Et forspring, der med fire nye giganter til MSC, kan blive reduceret til blot godt 40.000 teu.

Hvornår de fire skibe skal leveres og hvad de skal koste, er der ingen oplysninger om.
