Slut med krydstogtskibe i Venedig

Efter flere års diskussion har den italienske regering nu besluttet, at det fra den 1. august er forbudt for store krydstogtskibe at sejle helt ind til det centrale Venedig. Fremover vil krydstogtskibene lægge til i byens industrihavn - Marghera.

Beslutningen er taget for at beskytte den historiske by, der gennemskæres af kanaler og hvor husene hviler på pæle.

Byens beboere frygter, at bølger fra de store krydstogtskibe ødelægger fundamenterne under byens huse, samtidig med at de skader økosystemet.

I modsat retning trækker det, at turister er byens vigtigste indtægtskilde, og at krydstogtturisterne bidrager væsentligt til byens økonomi.

Anløb af byens industrigavn er dig blor en midlertidig løsning, indtil der etableres en egentlig krydstogtterminal udenfor den centrale del af byen.
