Popcorn - dem smider man da i vandet

Mange danskere sætter sig sikkert til rette foran fjernsynet med en skål popcorn lørdag aften, for at følge Melodi Grand Prix. Danmark er ikke med i finalen, men det er vores broderland Sverige. Her har man dog en anden tilgang til popcorn - dem smider man i søen.

Det var lidt af et syn, da den svenske kystvagt forleden hældte ikke kun en pose, men flere sække med i alt 8.000 liter popcorn i søen Mälaren.

Og nej, det er ikke fordi svenskerne ikke kan lide popcorn. Årsagen er, at popcorn opfører sig på samme måde som olie, når de ligger på vandoverfladen. Derfor bruger Kystvagten popcorn til at simulere, hvordan et olieudslip på Mälaren vil sprede sig.

I modsætning til olie er popcorn uskadeligt for miljøet, og størstedelen af popcornene bliver samlet op igen efter øvelsen. Om de stadig kan spises, melder historien ikke noget om.
