Containerskib på grund I Suez-kanalen

Det 399 meter lange containerskib MSC Istanbul, gik søndag på grund i Suez-kanalen. I løbet af få timer lykkedes det de egyptiske kanalmyndigheder at mobilisere fire slæbebåde, der var i stand til at trække containerskibet fri.

Efter fritrækningen var MSC Istanbul, der har en kapacitet på 16.000 TEU, i stand til at fortsætte sin sejlads mod Portugal.

Grundstødningen skabte kun minimale forsinkelser for den øvrige skibstrafik i kanalen.

I marts 2021 gik containerskibet Ever Given på grund i kanalen, og lagde sig efterfølgende på tværs. Det tog seks dage før det lykkedes at grave og trække skibet fri igen.
