Fjord Lines nye Hirtshals-katamaran søsat

Kapaciteten bliver fordoblet på Fjord Lines overfart mellem Hirtshals og Kristiansand til 1.200 passagerer, når rederiet senere i år indsætter Fjord FSTR på ruten. Den nye katamaran er netop søsat fra Austals værft i Filippinerne.

"Vi glæder os rigtig meget til at tage imod skibet og er selvfølgelig utrolig spændte på, hvad vores gæster vil synes om katamaranen", siger Rickard Ternblom, koncernchef i Fjord Line.

Fjord FSTR har plads til 1200 gæster eller dobbelt så som på Fjord Cat, og skibet er udstyret med to bildæk, som kan rumme 404 biler.

"Skibet er bygget med flere innovative funktioner og ved hjælp af et ride kontrolsystem, forbedres både sejlfærdigheder og gæsternes komfort om bord. Katamaranen er også udstyret med en ny og optimeret skrogform, som minimerer brændstofforbruget og bølgerne, når skibet sejler over Skagerrak mellem Danmark og Norge", siger Ternblom.

Den nye hurtiggående katamaran vil sørge for 32 procent reduktion i CO2-udslip per passagerkilometer, sammenlignet med det nuværende skib.

Fjord FSTR har en længde på 109 meter og maskinens 51.495 hk sørger for en topfart på 37 knob, nok til at sikre en overfartstid på 2 timer og 15 minutter som i dag.
