Brand på krydstogtskib i havnen i Yokohama

Der udbrød tirsdag brand på øverste dæk på krydstogtskibet Asuka II, der ligger ved kaj i havnen i Yokohama. Det var besætningen på det Covid-19 tomme skib, der slog alarm kl. 13 og selv gik i gang med brandslukningen, oplyser den japanske kystvagt.

Besætningen fik dog assistance fra det lokale brandvæsen i Yokohama og fra den japanske kystvagt, og det lykkedes ret hurtigt at få branden under kontrol. Fire timer senere, omkring kl. 17.00, var den slukket, oplyser NYK Cruises, der på grund af Covid-19 pandemien har taget skibet ud af drift.

Men 150 besætningsmedlemmer befinder sig alligevel på det 30 år gamle krydstogtskib. Ingen af dem kom til skade ved branden, der brød ud i et lagerrum på 12. dæk. Årsagen til branden er endnu ikke fundet.
