Historisk: Hund finder 27 mio. dollar

Mon ikke den fik en ekstra skål mad den hund, der i lørdags sniffede sig frem til en flyttekasse om bord på et fragtskib i San Juan i Puerto Rico. Der var flere af samme slags, 34 i alt viste det sig - og de var ikke tolddeklarerede. Og det var der rigtig mange gode grunde til.

27 mio. dollar. I kontanter. Det var det historisk høje beløb, som U.S. Customs and Border Protection kunne tælle sig frem til, da de 34 flytter kasser var åbnet og pengene talt op.

Kasserne skulle have været til St. Thomas og beslaglæggelsen var en del af en større efterforskning, som flere dele af de amerikanske myndigheder har gang i i Puerto Rico.

“Dette er uden tvivl en historisk beslaglæggelse af kontanter i det caribiske område. Sandsynligvis er mere end en grænseoverskridende narko-organisation involveret og de bløder seriøst i øjeblikket,” lød det fra en talsmand for det amerikanske narkopoliti, DEA, efter fangsten.
