Søværnet bringer Covid-19 vaccine ud

Arktisk Kommando hjalp i sidste uge til med at få vaccineret borgere i Grønland mod covid-19. Det skete, da inspektionsfartøjet Knud Rasmussen transporterede sundhedspersonale og vacciner fra Nuuk til Paamiut og Qeqertarsuatsiaat.

Inspektionsfartøjets store motorbåd måtte tages i brug på grund af det relativt lave vand, for at få personale og grej helt ind til kajen. Det resulterede i, at henholdsvis 223 og 90 indbyggere på de to lokationer nu har fået det første stik.

”Jeg ved, hvor svært det kan være at komme fra A til B i Grønland. Jeg synes derfor, vi er privilegerede at få lov til at hjælpe med at løse denne opgave og gøre en forskel i arbejdet for at modvirke covid-19,” fortæller skibschef på Knud Rasmussen, orlogskaptajn Clemens Vest Hansen.

Han tilføjer, at besætningen i høj grad har set frem til opgaven, fordi den giver så god mening, og støtter det grønlandske samfund på en ny måde, end de almindelige opgaver gør.

Det er første gang, Arktisk Kommando har bistået med vaccinedistribution, og turen havde til formål – udover at vaccinere indbyggerne – at afprøve, hvordan opsætningen for skib og sundhedspersonale fungerede i praksis. Derfor blev turen udført i relativt tilgængelige områder ved Paamiut og Qeqertarsuatisiaat som forberedelse til indsættelse på mere svært fremkommelige steder.

Landsapoteker Inge Mortensen vurderer, at turen er gået godt:.

”Vi har fået al den hjælp, vi havde brug for undervejs. Det har fungeret lige så godt med vaccinen, som hvis vi havde stået på Sana [Dronning Ingrids hospital i Nuuk] og taget doserne ud af fryseren der og brugt dem. Det kunne ikke være gået bedre”.

Knud Rasmussen har tjent som en stabil platform, som har haft til formål at lette sundhedspersonalets arbejde, så de alene har kunnet koncentrere sig om at udføres deres vaccine-relaterede opgaver.
