Lønninger til kinesiske søfolk er eksploderet

Corona epidemien har ikke ført meget godt med sig, men hvis man er kinesisk sømand, er udviklingen ikke så ringe endda. Den benhårde kinesiske indsats mod smittespredning, der gør det mere end svært for udenlandske søfolk at rejse ind i Kina, og det har skabt gyldne dage for kinesiske søfolk.

Kina er verdens største producent af nye skibe, men når de nybyggede skibe skal bemandes første gang, er det næsten umuligt at flyve udenlandske besætninger ind.

Det har øget efterspørgslen efter kinesiske søfolk markant, og presset lønningerne i vejret. Set over de sidste to år, er lønningerne mange steder fordoblet - ja endda tredoblet.

Befarne kinesiske matroser får nu typisk mellem 1.800 og 2.500 dollar om måneden, mens yngre officerer kan se frem til en løncheck på 6.000 dollar og mere om måneden.

Ikke overraskende har det ført til sen stor tilgang af kinesiske besætningsmedlemmer om bord på udenlandske skibe. Tal for 2021 foreligger ikke endnu, men i 2020 steg antallet af kinesiske besætningsmedlemmer om bord på udenlandske skibe med 17.175 – så det samlede antal nåede op på 122.034. Og alt tyder på at tallet er fortsat med at stige i 2021.
