RAL fastholder at rykke til Aarhus i år

Royal Arctic Line har meddelt, at rederiet har til hensigt, at alt gods mellem Danmark og Grønland fra i år skal gå via containerterminalen på Aarhus havn. Køle- og frysegods håndteres allerede i Aarhus, men de resterende godstyper vil således komme til i løbet af 2022.

”I vores bestræbelser på at gøre det let at handle med hele Grønland er der et behov for, at vi løbende kan tilpasse os til de muligheder, der opstår. Royal Arctic Lines nye sejladssystem gør, at vi nu anløber Danmark, Sverige, Færøerne og Island på ugentlig basis, hvilket giver flere ind- og udgangsporte for grønlandsk import og eksport”, siger administrerende direktør i Royal Arctic Line, Verner Hammeken.

Beslutningen føres ud i livet, selv om Claus Holstein, CEO i Aalborg Havn, beskylder Royal Arctic Line for at løbe fra en klokkeklar aftale om, at Aalborg fortsætter som basishavn for rederiet frem til udgangen af 2022.

Drøftelserne mellem Royal Arctic Line og Aarhus Havn om et samarbejde, strækker sig tilbage til 2019. I oktober samme år blev aftalen om fremtidige anløb til Aarhus

nderskrevet af daværende havnedirektør Jakob Flyvbjerg Christensen og Royal Arctic Lines administrerende direktør Verner Hammeken på Borgmesterkontoret i Aarhus, under overværelse af de to bestyrelsesformænd, Aarhus Borgmester Jacob Bundsgaard og Royal Arctic Line bestyrelsesformand Ulrik Blidorf.

Det er den aftale, der nu får fuld effekt i Aarhus i 2022.
