Mekanord considers suspension of payment
MARITIME INDUSTRY: The North Jutlandish manufacturer of gears for ships, Maekanord, is hit so badly by the repercussions of the financial crisis, that the company is now considering suspension of payment. Ten hourly-paid workers have already been sacked, salaried-workers will follow.
"We need to reconstruct the company and we are putting in a lot of work to keep Mekanord, as we haven't lost our believe in our right to be where we are. We simply just haven't had the strength to ride off the storm, and so now we need peace to find a solution," says Soeren Klyvoe, managing director of nordjyske.dk.
Since fall 2008 the gear manufacturer
in Frederikshavn Denmark has felt the financial crisis at an increasing intensity, which has resulted in annulments of orders and a decrease in the intake of orders.
The normal financing for running the company is no longer at hand, and the assignment is therefore among other things to add capital and adjust the working force.
"We do not have any co-workers whom we wish to say goodbye to, so I truly hope that we will find a solution which will leave us strengthened in the end so we can rehire people, " says Soeren Klyvoe to the newspaper.
