Life at sea on Danish ships is good
The well-being of seamen on Danish ships is generally good, whatever their nationality. Even better than the rumours relate but the nature of the job and absence from home have been special problems and managing them in future years will also be a challenge for the sector.
"We hope that the many results from the survey will be used widely to continue the marked improvement in the working environment on Danish vessels", says Connie S. Gehrt, Director, Seahealth Denmark.
It is first and foremost all about social isolation - aboard but also when seamen are on home leave. It is also about time off-duty aboard, about working relations with ships and management and the company and day-to-day management of the vessel and crew. Above are the main conclusions of the biggest survey - A Good Working Life at Sea - that has ever been conducted on well-being at sea on vessels flying the Danish flag.
Stakeholders in the sector and the organisations and unions will now be analysing the figures so as to create even better working conditions for seamen.
"We hope that the many results from the survey will be used widely to continue the marked improvement in the working environment on Danish vessels that we have witnessed over the past 25 years," says Connie S. Gehrt, Seahealth Denmark.
