On Behalf of MAN Energy Solutions, MARPRO Group is looking for an NOx Emission Certification Expert, for the Research & Development Department.

At MAN Energy Solutions, we develop propulsion engines and technology solutions for the global maritime fleet that moves approximately 90% of the world's cargo. We are the global market leader of energy efficient and fuel flexible large two-stroke marine engines. Our ambition is to "Move big things to zero" and help the world decarbonize by offering state of the art technologies as well as retrofit solutions to upgrade the existing fleet.

Your role will be very important!

We are a team of 13 specialists in measurement technologies, engine performance, emissions, and simulations, collaborating internally and across departments. We prioritize personal growth and have recently reorganized for scalability, empowerment, and development. Our responsibilities include engine performance strategies, fuel optimization, turbocharging, emission compliance, and developing retrofit solutions to upgrade existing vessels with the latest technology. Our team is in MAN Energy Solutions R&D organization and the functional department consists of approximately 60 persons.

As our NOx Emission Certification Expertin our Engine Process Platform Development Department, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our innovative solutions for decarbonizing the marine industry align with current and future IMO legislations.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Work with leading engine technologies, including our low-carbon dual fuel engines
• enabling the carbon neutral transition for the maritime industry.
• Planning, analyzing, and following up on emission surveys to ensure compliance with IMO NOx regulations.
• Developing and implementing IMO NOx certification concepts for our two-stroke engine
• portfolio, including retrofit projects and newbuilding projects. Staying updated on current and future IMO legislation to ensure our products remain strategically aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Leading certification projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely and accurate
• documentation.
• Guide team members in executing certification tasks, provide ongoing support and delegation of tasks.
• Providing technical guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders.
• You will closely collaborate with other departments and engineering fields, enjoying the freedom to influence your own specialist area.

Professional competencies required for this role

• Relevant engineering background or equivalent education specialized within environmental engineering / emission technology, combustion engines or environmental law.
• At least 5-8 years of professional experience in a relevant and reputed organization.
• Strong stakeholder and communication skills in English, verbally as well as in writing.
• Strong technical expertise and proficient technical writing abilities.
• Computational and data evaluation skills

We do not expect you to be an expert when entering the position, but it is our ambition that you develop into our main expert in this field.

Travelling is to be expected in this role including participation in relevant measurement campaigns on test bed at our licensees, sea trials and meetings with various stakeholders around the world. Business trips vary from a few days up to 3 weeks and will amount to approximately 30-40 travel days per year.
