EMRI is a rapidly growing maritime technology company with a team of 55 professionals, including 18 dedicated R&D experts. We develop control and navigation systems for large ships and are leaders in our field. EMRI's systems ensure precise navigation and thus better utilization of the ships' fuel, leading to reduction of fuel emissions. That is something we are proud of.
Our software development team is thriving, and we are now looking for a General Manager Innovation who can bring the same level of excellence to our hardware development efforts.

The Role
As our General Manager Innovation, you will lead the Innovation department, ensuring that both software and hardware development align with the company's strategic goals.
We are seeking a leader who excels in planning, execution, and innovation.
You should be able to appreciate and motivate the existing agile software and algorithm development teams, while at the same time use your expertise to help build our ability to deliver quality hardware and products in accordance with our business objectives.
Your role will be pivotal in shaping the future of our solutions and ensuring seamless integration of hardware and software.
You will report to Morten Novak Bro, the CEO of EMRI, and join the top management team.
You can expect to recruit an additional 3-5 employees in 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Innovation team.
- Oversee the development and integration of hardware and software systems.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the technology teams.
- Facilitate collaboration with other R&D departments globally across Furuno, in particular with Furuno's HQ in Japan.
- Implement Agile and Lean development processes for both hardware and software teams to enhance efficiency and adaptability.
- Ensure effective planning and execution, while maintaining high standards for product quality.
- Collaborate with the product management team to align technology initiatives with business objectives.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, regulatory developments and technological advancements to maintain our competitive edge.
- Mentor and develop engineering talent, ensuring continuous improvement and professional growth.
About You
- Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
- A Master's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Proven track record in leading hardware and software development teams.
- Experience in hardware development, including planning, execution, and integration with software solutions.
- Understanding of embedded systems.
- Expertise in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban etc) and their application in software and hardware development.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex R&D activities and drive them to successful products.
It will be a plus, if you have:
- Experience developing maritime, aerospace, or automotive products.
- Understanding of the regulatory frameworks governing maritime technology products.
- MBA or other commercial post-graduate education.
