The world's biggest high-speed ferry
SHIPPING: Nordic Ferry Services - a co-operation between Clipper and Bornholmstrafikken - is ready to deploy the world's biggest high-speed ferry on the service between Ystad and Ronne, when the new invitation to tender becomes effective in 2011
It will most likely be the Australian shipyard Austral that builds the new super ferry, which Nordic Ferry Services will instate on the service between Ystad and Ronne in 2.5 years.
The high-speed ferry, which measures 112 meter and will cost 500 to 600 million DKK, carries 1400 passengers and 359 cars. The travel time between Ronne and Ystad will be 80 minutes.
The new catamaran ferry will service the route together with the present high-speed ferry Villum Clausen, which will be instated as a reserve and an extra capacity during the high season.
The present ferries Hammerode and Dueodde on the service Ronne-Koge, will be rebuilt for greater capacity.
The new tender becomes effective on the 1st of September 2011 and runs until the 1st of September 2017.
